Total Solar Eclipse

I've always loved astronomy and I guess I've always been sort of a geek. I asked for a telescope when I was 8 years old and loved looking at the moon, planets and anything else I could find like the Orion Nebula. The pinnacle of astronomy for me has always been wanting to see a total solar eclipse, and this last weekend on August 21, 2017 I finally had my chance. We packed our bags, which required packing all of my gear with redundancy, and we headed to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This is a composite image of 4 shots of the eclipse: inner corona, middle corona, outer corona and the earth shine on the moon. Processing in Photoshop by centering the images of the moon, then bringing them in and creating a smart object from the 4 layers. I then combined them with the Stack Mode of Mean and then used a radial blur and multiplying the result to bring more detail out in the corona. The black and white processing was by using Silver Effect Pro to bring out more contrast detail. I'm already making plans for 2019 and the total solar eclipse in Chile! It's such an amazing experience.

This was my set up: Sony A7 with a Meta Bones adapter, a Kenko 1.4x teleconverter, mounted on a Vixen Polarie Star Tracker by means of using a Manfroto 410 Junior Gear Head mounted to a Sirui K-20X ball head that was attached to a Vixen Porta II Altazimuth Mount.
