Total Solar Eclipse
I've always loved astronomy and I guess I've always been sort of a geek. I asked for a telescope when I was 8 years old and loved looking at the moon, planets and anything else I could find like the Orion Nebula. The pinnacle of astronomy for me has always been wanting to see a total solar eclipse, and this last weekend on August 21, 2017 I finally had my chance. We packed our bags, which required packing all of my gear with redundancy, and we headed to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This is a composite image of 4 shots of the eclipse: inner corona, middle corona, outer corona and the earth shine on the moon. Processing in Photoshop by centering the images of the moon, then bringing them in and creating a smart object from the 4 layers. I then combined them with the Stack Mode of Mean and then used a radial blur and multiplying the result to bring more detail out in the corona.
